TCP Multiple drop action for transmission errors

چکیده
In this paper we present a new TCP retransmission algorithm to recover from multiple non-congestion(transmission) packet drops from the same TCP window. This algorithm will help end-to-end error discriminators to improve TCP performance over lossy and heterogeneous networks. The simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm has increased TCP performance over different error rates without extra load on the network. This has been achieved by resending only number of packets equal to the dropped packets which have already left the network and by cutting the congestion window even for noncongestion drops.

An Extension of the TCP Flow Control Algorithm for Wireless Networks
Reliable transport protocols such as the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) are tuned to perform well in traditional wireline networks where packet losses occur mostly because of congestion. However, networks with wireless and lossy links also suffer from significant packet losses due to bit errors and handoffs. TCP responds to all the packet losses by invoking congestion control and avoidance...
متن کاملAdapting TCP Segment Size in Cellular Networks
In cellular networks, a frame size is generally made small to reduce the impact of errors. Thus, a segment of transport layer is splitted into multiple frames before transmission. A problem is that the whole segment is lost when a frame of a segment is lost. So, the segment error rate tends to be high even though the cellular network provides relatively the low frame error rate, which drops TCP...
متن کاملTCP Veno: TCP enhancement for transmission over wireless access networks
Wireless access networks in the form of wireless local area networks, home networks, and cellular networks are becoming an integral part of the Internet. Unlike wired networks, random packet loss due to bit errors is not negligible in wireless networks, and this causes significant performance degradation of transmission control protocol (TCP). We propose and study a novel end-to-end congestion ...

Ensuring that a system meets its prescribed speciication is a growing challenge that confronts software developers and system engineers. Meeting this challenge is particularly important for distributed systems with strict dependability and timeliness constraints. This paper presents a technique, called script-driven probing and fault injection, for the evaluation and validation of dependable pr...

In this paper we analyze the TCP performance degradation introduced by a wireless media having transmission errors and the capability of the following mechanisms to correct it (i) improvements over the TCP Reno release (SACK, New-Reno and FACK); (ii) improvements over the classical “tail dropping” mechanism used by routers (RED and ECN); and (iii) a TCP implementation based on the usage of ECN ...
